Changos, Changos Everywhere

I am writing this with a fever of 100.5, yesterday I had 101.9 and I had to stay in the pension, but now since my fever has dropped a little I got to work and It its almost 100 degrees today. Challenge accepted.

This week had a ton of heat, and February is the worst month for heat. So this will be interesting.

We are trying to find new people, we are finding people, it looks good on numbers but they arent people that are progressing or are very interested. Its a bit of a struggle right now, but we are working hard and changing things and ways of finding people. WE WILL KEEP ON KEEPING ON

Familia De La Silva is progressing  very well, but they cant attend church! Because they have a kid in jail that they can only visit Domingos at 10 to 12. It sucks. I know that once they attend that they will be baptized soon. We are praying and fasting a lot for them for the ability that they can attend church.

The support of the members is great here. They are more willing to work with us and give us references and help us. Its very important to work with the members in teaching and finding.

There was a world wide transmission for just missionaries, the wednesday before.
Talked a lot about the importance of teaching repentance, baptism and having patience with your investigators. Talked also a lot about the changes in the schedules to missionaries and other things of numbers and statistics. Was great, I learned a lot, that I need to have more patience with my investigators.

I am learning a lot about myself and my weaknesses and my strengths. I have a lot I need to work on, but I am willing to change and become better. We can all become better when we come to our heavenly father humbly and ask for his help to make our weaknesses become strong. Its a process but its possible. We can become better. We can do all things with Christ that strengthens us.

Funny Things

Interesting street contact of the week Donald Trump is apparently the leader of our church...and also apparently Mormons only live to 62 years. (shout out to my grandparents for breaking the stereotype)

Pear Juice is dank

I broke my pinky toe the other day, walking is great

Cockroach Yogurt

Hola Familia, Amigos, y Changitos,

This week was very good, we had Zone Conference, Interviews, Progress in Investigators, and MIGUEL WAS BAPTIZED!

Zone Conference was good I learned a lot. I need to teach more in the street. I learned that I don´t need to ask to teach when I meet someone, but rather that I should just start teaching from the getgo. It´s helped a bit, we didn´t find many new people to teach this week but we are moving along! Zone Conference was very focused on obedience, I feel like my obedience has been falling a little. This was a good reminder to stay obedient and the blessings are there for those that are obedient. I know there are blessings to the obedient, and we need all the blessings we can get in the work of The Lord. My interview with President was short but good. He´s happy with my work and how my area is doing.  President really has a lot of love and care for the mission.

Familia De La Silva. They are chosen ones. Ones that I really believe the Lord has prepared them to listen to us. People that are ready to begin the journey on the path of the Lord. They are progressing very well. They didn´t accept a date to be baptized because they want to have a confirmation in the hearts that this is the truth. But they are reading the book of mormon and are very intrigued with the lessons. I really hope we can help them to progress.

MIGUEL WAS BAPTIZED. It was so great to see. Miguel is a great guy. I have really seen a lot of change in him in such short time. The service was very powerful and uplifting. His wife is a recent convert and they are just so happy. She is so happy that her husband has found the truth that this really is the true church of Jesus Christ, that this is the path that he needs to take. Melina, Miguel´s wife. Bore her testimony after the baptism. It was so powerful and had so much love for Miguel. I am so happy for him. I´ve really come to love la Familia Santucho. Joaquin, the nephew of Miguel, will be baptized this Saturday!  Being a missionary is the best.

Funny Things

Was drinking Yogurt and there was something half way in my mouth and I looked and it was a dead cockroach. Yum. I tried not to make a big deal out of it because a family of members gave me the yogurt and we were in their house. So when nobody was looking I took the cockroach out of the cup and drank the rest of the yogurt.....Gross I know. It´s Tucuman.

I´m getting better at soccer but I got a lead foot. The first 30 seconds of the game we had with members I kicked the ball over the fence. Such a gringo thing to do.

We were contacting a woman in the street and she told me that there husband had cancer and I said without thinking de diez (which means like awesome, great) and began teaching. Yeah it wasnt de diez, she got offended and was trying to explain that I was just said it without thinking.  Yeah we didn´t get to an appointment for another day.

LA Tormenta

Buenas Tardes Familia, Amigos, y Changitos,

We had the biggest storm this week that I have ever seen in my life. A ton of wind, hail, torrential rain, thunder and lightning. We were having a family home evening in the house of Familia Caceres. When it all came at once. We had to wait for it to blow over. We arrived 45 minutes late at our pension because we had to wait for the storm to blow over. When it was over we walked in rain still through the rivers in the street. All of the lights were out in the neighborhood, and when there´s no light in this neighborhood there is no good. The only light was the lightning in the sky, there was so much, just constant electricity. It was a crazy sight to see. We arrived safe and sound but we it was the craziest storms I have seen. There was trees knocked over the next day and floods in the streets still.

So Miguel didn´t get baptized this week cause he had to work. But he will get baptized this week with his nephew Joaquin! They are so ready and excited. They are progressing very well and excited to recieve more of what The Lord has in plan for them.

We have found a lot of investigators this week. All from different backrounds, rich and poor, old and young, innocent and troublesome. Most of them have a desire to change and better themselves by following Christ. We hope we can help them to get to the desires that they want. We found a chosen Familia this week. Familia De La Silva. Gustavo, the father of the familia, was outside and watching us walk and knock doors. He told us to come in from the other side of the street and have some water cause it was very hot. He talked with us and has family that are LDS. He wants to find change in his life and for his family to be more in unity.

We came back a couple days later and taught about the Restaration (I think thats how you spell it in English, I have forgotten) They were full of tears and feel like this is the path for them. They couldn´t attend church this week but we have another appointment with them tomorrow. they have a lot of potential. I hope we can get them to where they want to be.

Fake Gringo

Hola Familia, Amigos, y Changitos,

This week was a good week. It´s still very hot here. It´s lower today. Only 91 F, but the humidity is killing me. I learned a lot this week at things I was lacking, things that the Lord wanted me to get better. When we try to become better the Lord will bless us for our efforts and humility.

Last week we couldn´t find a single new investigator. It was really frustrating. Something needed to change. I did divisions with Elder Soriano and he showed me some different things to find new investigators, that I need to be more insistant but with The Spirit. That I need to have the attitude that I am going to enter that house and teach that family yes or yes.  It really helped. I also figured that I wasn´t praying as earnestly as I should have. That I really wasn´t the most sincere in my prayers with our father in Heaven. I really think that made all the difference this week. We found 20 this week. I really think the Lord has blessed us so much this week. I am learning a lot about myself really in this mission. Elder Villanueva and I are teaching and contacting more in unity and it´s really made a big difference.
It´s amazing the people that found us. The people that found us before we found them. Really grows my testimony that our father in heaven really wants to help us and but want´s us to give a little more.

We will have a baptism this week. Miguel Santucho. He is ready to follow Christ, the changes I have seen in him in this short time here is really amazing. He really loves us. He looks out for us, Famila Santucho really is great. Joaquin, his nephew will be baptized soon. And Emilse his sister will be baptized soon also. It´s amazing to see the progress.

Funny Things

I am apparently a fake gringo because I don´t have blue eyes.

I am apparently also Chinese because some chicos in the street told me to speak Chinese, I told them I do not speak chinese man, I told them I speak Japanese and kept walking. Konichewa

Yeah my planner is soaked because of amount of sweat I have here, it´s terrible.

I almost drank a Mojito, one investigator gave us something to drink, I was about to drink it but it smelt of alcohol. Good thing I was paying attention.

Bullets In The Air

 Feliz año nuevo!

This week was great. We are working like dogs, we had a ton of lessons this week. It is so hot here. It is high 30's low 40's. IN CELSIUS. (which is 98 to 111 degrees) With 60 PERCENT HUMIDITY. I have never sweat so much in my life, and I have never been so exhausted. But it feels so good, We feel very accomplished.

This area has so much potential. Our investigators are very prepared to be baptized very soon. Familia Santucho, they are just great. Melina Santucho was just baptized and her husband, Miguel, sees and feels the difference and happiness that the iglesia has. He has commited to be baptized the 14th. His sister, Emilse. Wants to be baptized too, and has found her testimony. Her and her Husband need to be married first before she can. Probably in February. They are so great, and they have found so much joy in the gospel.
The nephew of Miguel, wants to be baptized too. He will be baptized on the 28. We are trying are best to help them arrive at their baptisms.

The ward is not as strong here, but that´s okay. We will work hard, and help them. We had New Year´s eve with La Familia Trejo. They are recent converts and are very strong. Exequiel is 24, and he is our ward mission leader. He is doing his mission papers right now and he really is a stud. I get along well with him. We ate dinner with them until 11 and they took us home in their car. New Years is really dangerous here in the streets. A lot of drinking and drugs. The fireworks are real here. It was really a sight to see. The Elders and I of our district slept on the roof of our house watching the fireworks. It was really great, but we could not sleep. The music was playing all night in the streets. I woke up in the middle of the night and realzied how stupid it was that we slept on the the roof, because they shoot their guns in the air, when it´s midnight. But we survived.

FAMILIA SANCHEZ from Monteros came to my ward in Universitario. I was so happy to see them. They are doing very good, One P day I will go visit them and the people of monteros because we are very close to Monteros.

This week was good Elder Villanueva and I are working hard. This area is great, and their is a lot of stress of being Senior Comp but I love it.

Ciao,

(I don´t have any photos this week, My new area is sketch so I haven´t brought my camera with me, but mom will post some from Christmas.)

P.S.  Dad...You have the Power to act in the name of the Lord, when you read the scriptures daily you are fortifying your ability to listen to the spirit and act upon you Priesthood.
